Dried Flowers Are Hot News This Year

Our Dried Flower range is now coming back into stock and we are proud to work with Koos Lamboo Dried & Deco and have done so now for over 20 years. Back in the 80’s when Dried Flowers were big news Koos Lamboo were one of the biggest growers and driers in Holland. http://www.kooslamboo.com . The fashion changed and Dried Flowers were pushed away to the back of the room and forgotten, only to be seen in the sort of hairdressers where you could have your hair set.

Dried Flower Trends and Inspirations

We’ve been following dried flower trends for a while. It started with some Instagram posts in late 2016, could it be true, dried flowers were being mentioned again? South Korea and Japan were early adopters, posies and decorations were petite sometimes minute and perfect in every way. Each flower was chosen with extreme care and placed with precision. Other flower trends sprang up including pressing flowers and botanical collections and curios seemed the thing to have, collect and photograph. We were inspired to create some dried flower curtains for our stand at the Spring Fair in Birmingham earlier in the year and were inspired by Rebecca Louise Law.

Club Tropicana!

We’re showboating here, but look at how gorgeous our tropical leaves are! Fiona Humberstone, The Brand Stylist, selected a few from our range, for her Colour for Creatives workshop. They were whisked over from the farm in Sri Lanka the day before the workshop – perfectly fresh and absolutely stunning. We’re so chuffed with the photos (taken by Katie Spicer) we had to share!

Why we support Fairtrade

We are passionate about what we do – and we also care about where our products come from. We were the first to import Fairtrade foliage into the UK and have been working with a farm in Sri Lanka since 2006 – this is where many of our beautiful, tropical stems start their journey.

Behind the scenes (our first photo shoot!)

Our first photo shoot took place in January this year. If you’ve ever organised a shoot, you’ll know just how much hard work is involved. We spent about two months planning it, not to mention finding the right photographer, the right stylist, finding a location to best reflect our brand, selecting the products we wanted to shoot, and sourcing the props.

Petersham Nurseries

Petersham Nurseries, at the foot of Richmond Hill (then down a bumpy dirt track) is what you might call a ‘rus in urbe’, or an oasis in the midst of a bustling ‘burb. Garden centre doesn’t do it justice; this place has ambience, it’s chic and very, very unique. It also has a tearoom and Michelin starred restaurant to boot.
