Setaria macrochaeta derives its name from the Latin seta, which means ‘hair’. This refers to the hairy spike of the plant. Moreover, macrochaeta translates to ‘big bristly surface’, which describes the stubby surface of the ear of the grass. This also explains the common name of this crop: Foxtail Grass.

One can quite easily see a resemblance between a foxtail and the Setaria plant. Our Setaria macrochaeta is grown and dried in Holland. Due to its rustic looks, this crop conjours up the feeling of the forests and wilderness. Yet, the texture of Setaria is very soft and tactile. It can make a bouquet that looks a bit bare seem more full and its form gives a softness and delicate touch.
